Smolny Sobor is the most beautiful Cathedral. It is indeed a pearl in the heart of the most beautiful city in the World.

This cathedral attached to Smolnyi Monastyr (Smolnyi Convent) was built according to the design of, V. Rastrelli, a famous 18th century architect. Work began in 1748 and the final touches and interior decoration were finished during 1832- 1835 by V.P. Stasov.

The cathedral is designed in the shape of a cross. The main part of the building is topped by a central dome joined on four sides by belfries and topped off with onion- domed cupolas.
The state concert and exhibition hall "Smolny Cathedral" is located in a former cathedral for all educational institutions. It is the main building of a unique architectural ensemble, the former Smolny Cathedral having been built by the architect Francesco Bartholomeo Rastrelli.

The exhibition space of Smolny cathedral (3000 m2) allows holding various kinds of exhibitions not only from the rich collections of the famous St. Petersburg museums but also from the museums and galleries of Europe.
