International Ballet Festival Mariinsky

Maryinsky International Ballet Festival held at Maryinsky Theater St. Petersburg, Russia is one of the major events of Russia and attracts thousands of people.

It brings together guest artists from American Ballet Theatre, the Bolshoi, and The Royal Ballet, among others, to dance on internationally known classics.

Mariinsky's company shows various productions during this annual festival. Previous years have presented works by some of the most famous ballet masters including Neumeier, Balanchine and Fokine.

The Mariinsky Ballet Company is closely linked with the entire history of the development of Russian choreographic art which originated 250 years ago. Since 1783 the company performed at the stage of the St Petersburg Bolshoy (Stone) Theatre and from 1885 onwards the ballet productions have been staged at the Mariinsky Theatre.

Participants in the only classic dance festival in Russia are the best ballet dancers from the most prominent ballet companies of the world, such as the Hamburg Ballet by John Neumaier, the Bavarian Ballet, and the Frankfurt Ballet led by the famous ballet- master William Forsythe.
