Kalinka Malinka

Everything at Kalinka Malinka, which is named after possibly Russia's best- known folk song, is in the best Russian traditions: good, filling food to old recipes; decor in the style of a wooden country cottage; and live folk music every evening.

A log- cabin interior, staff dressed up as 'muzhiks' and heavily- garnished meals in the typically Russian manner make this restaurant a natural place to visit for those hopping on and off buses on their tours around the city.

The menu includes all the old favorites; bliny (pancakes) with different fillings; traditional soups, such as shchi (cabbage), borshch (beetroot) and solyanka (meat); baked rabbit; salmon with nuts; leg of pork in beer; and much, much more. Kalinka- Malinka also offers home- style vodka of the same name, as well as an enormous dessert of fruits and berries in whipped cream.

The two small rooms are decorated with wooden carvings, and bear and wolf skins hang on the walls. Traditional Russian souvenirs are also on sale. "Kalinka- malinka” is situated in two steps of Hevsky prospect, near the Grand Hotel Europe in the historical center of Saint- Petersburg.
