The Petrovsky Stadium

Petrovsky is one of the major sports venues in the city, with an accommodation capacity of 23000 people.

The stadium has become known after the 1994 Good Will Games. Now it is the Official stadium of the "Football Club - Zenit". Home games normally start at 17.00 (weekends) and 19.00 (week days).

Stadium "Petrovsky" is named after the small island in the delta of the Neva where it is located in the very center of St. Petersburg, a 15 minute walk from the Hermitage.

On the threshold of the Goodwill Games' 94 the stadium was reconstructed, the lighting was refurbished and the heating was installed under the playing field.

Petrovsky is the home stadium for the local football team "Zenith" which plays in the Russian Premiere League and in the European cups. The stadium is popular among the townspeople for its coziness, good location and the numerous sports clubs attached to it.

Petrovsky is open to the public 7 days a week; it is not only a major sports center of St. Petersburg but also a cultural one for it often hosts rock festivals and pop concerts.
